Dr. Donna Cox is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis where she received both the Ph.D. and M.M. degrees in Performance Practices: Choral Conducting. In addition to serving as Chair of the Department of Music, Dr. Cox directs the Ebony Heritage Singers, the University gospel choir. A much-sought lecturer and choral adjudicator, she has presented for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education, several state music, divisional and national music conferences, and other University symposiums.
Dr. Cox has ministered, performed, studied and taught in various parts of the world including Dublin, Ireland where she and a small group of singers opened for the 1998 Tour de France. Dr Cox has performed recitals of African American Arts Songs and Spirituals in Ireland and London. She has traveled several times to Ghana, West Africa to conduct choral and vocal workshops and masterclasses and has been featured in recital at the National Theatre of Ghana. She and groups of singers have traveled to Ghana to study drumming and dance and presented concert tours in Rome, Fossano and Florence, Italy as well as Honolulu, Hawaii. She is a recipient of the Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District Individual Artist Fellowship Award in the Master Artist area.
Rev. Cox will complete the Masters In Theological Studies in May 2008 at the University of Dayton. She is a member of Omega Baptist Church where she and her husband have led the Marriage Builders Ministry for nearly ten years. Rev. Cox has a passion for ministry to couples, women and college-aged students. Her latest book, Angels Encamped About Me: Provision In the Wilderness was released in September, 2007.
Rev. Donna is the mother of two: Jonathan who is completing a masters at Penn State and Jamie who is finishing a bachelors at the University of Dayton. She is the grandmother of one, Hezekiah who is 7 months old. Rev. Cox has been a college professor for over eighteen years and has taught all grade levels.
